Bohler Kaye-like a flower (Kaye Bohler Band; 2009 KB)

I’m telling ya, that this lady has more than a little Aretha in his belt blues great, beautiful. She is not a sound-alike by any means, but she has that kind of power, that kind of gradient and that kind of emotional resonance. His stylistic range is awesome too. “Wasted on you” opens like a good number of R&B, but gradually resolves on a statement of self-empowering the “R-E-S-P-E-C-T”. “State of the Blues” is a mix of blues and soul hits 60, pulsed with pain and rhythmic power. As his history becomes increasingly desperate, the edge in his beautiful voice gets sharper and sharper. It is evident that nothing and mean nothing, can get away with her.
Of course, ms. Bohler is much more of a magnificent set of pipes. He also learns that she is a killer songwriter, author of every song on this album. Once again, its range is incredible. “I Got to Know” is a jump blues ‘n’ swing number that could have come right off 40 years ‘. “Arms of another man” are badass soul of Curtis Mayfield, the single from a soundtrack that never was. “My heart beats for him” could have come directly from the pen of Mr. Cole Porter. His vocal approach on this is how Billie Holiday will give you chills. Again, no imitation, but rather of emulation. She is so sweet, so thin, so glorious.
If you miss the old gold days – whether those days were in the 40s, 50 years, 60 years or 70s – or you just want to curl up with the real sound of rhythm and blues, “Like a flower of Kaye Bohler” will fill the Bill. Absolutely breathtaking.

Resurrectionists-here hope flows like blood from the nose (Self-released)
Reviewed by Michael Macomber
Footprints of the Resurrectionists lie along the same dusty path traveled by Alternative Tentacles of Slim Cessna’s Auto Club. Sulphur and backwoods hellfire serves as a powerful source of inspiration for both bands. Their songs also share a steely guitar twang, a South Bend note that adds a touch of creepy for each Opera. Still, the Resurrectionists are not merely Slim Cessna Part Two. There is a bit of Tom Waits here as well, not to mention a help full of originality.
The genius of songs such as “The Dirty 3rd” and “Old pale face goes to The Theater” clanking, shambling definitively put aside from the band. The blues and jazz-tinged “southern city” moves like a mountain lion, framing its prey. “The Honeyspot Motor Lodge” is raging, then kicking back to a dizzying sway, spinning images of succulent leaves and ashtray piled high with cigarette butts. “A dry night In Chambersburg” music is a cousin of the ‘ 60 ‘s rock and roll, while still at revitalizing roots of the band.
It is the closest the Resurrectionists are Slim Cessna sound on “Jesus Loves You”, and this seems more like a tribute of imitation. Clearly, these guys are Slim and see a kindred soul there. But their sound is genuine and honest, supported by a love of country, blues, jazz and the strange story.
For those who prefer their American with a side order of strangeness, The Resurrectionists are the perfect bizarre blue plate special. With every bite, you get something a little different, and when you’ve finished, you will be more than pleased.

The Blue Note years: The photography of Francis Wolff and Jimmy Katz
Aug 22, 2011 General
JazzPrezzo proudly announces the release of The Blue Note Years: the photography of Francis Wolff and Jimmy Katz on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Blue Note Records, the label is most important in the history of jazz.
This elegant coffee table book, including two CDs of music, spans an incredible 70 years of the label, from its origins to today, through the eyes of two photographers masters. The images, many of them never before seen, capture the major artists of modern jazz in historic recording sessions and in other contexts. In recognition of this unique collection, the Jewish Museum in Berlin provides for a special exhibition of photographs from the book for the autumn of 2009.
Designed by award-winning designer Ingo Wolff, the essays of features of the book by producer Michael Cuscuna, Blue Note President Bruce Lundvall, recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder and jazz historian Ashley Kahn.
Wolff Rolleiflex caught every important development from traditional styles and swing-era of the 1940s through bebop, hard bop, soul, avant-garde and even the first sounds of the merger.
Photographs include jazz legends Sidney Bechet and Thelonious Monk, Art Blakey and Horace Silver, Miles Davis and Clifford Brown, Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane — amplitude bewildering in its historical importance. The story continues with jazz greats Jackie McLean, Herbie Hancock, Dexter Gordon, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, Grant Green, Ornette Coleman, Cecil Taylor, Don Cherry, Andrew Hill, Cassandra Wilson and Joe Lovano.
Iconic black-and-white photographs of Wolff, respectful of the musicians, intimate and relaxed and their craft, generated jazz musicians to a heroic degree. His views today resists: musicians working hard on their instruments, scrutinizing the sheet music or talking among themselves, playing music with eyes staring off into space or exits kidnapping music.
In the early 1990s, Blue Note found spiritual descendant of Wolff in Jimmy Katz, whose style has its own distinctive signature. As Wolff, Katz can catch the right moment, light frame, and you shoot in a fraction of a second. Their careers have run along parallel lines: both picked up the camera soon fell under the spell of jazz and established a mature visual signature. As an image of Wolff, a portrait of Katz is immediately recognizable.
Ashley Kahn writes, “seeing, as the saying goes, try for yourself. In the photograph of Wolff and Katz’s shared a deep reverence for the music, captured in a way that makes us all fortunate witnesses some truly historical and private moments “. Bruce Lundvall comments, “this book is the most beautiful gift of 70th anniversary that could get the Blue Note.”

Why do we need music reviews
Aug 22, 2011 General
To make our decisions with someone else, is what we do on a constant basis. This applies to films, books and even music. If someone sees a good movie, go to it, her friends say. The same is music to the public. There are more, why do reviews on different songs and music albums need a good overview. Are you go, to get as much of something, that you have have read and know that it is good instead of something, you just see.
It is the best, normal, what in particular have, because you are going to realize that you are more stressed out, if you have a CD, you nothing about want to know. You will be able to have a lot of fun if you have the right verification in mind before the next CD shopping. No one may have to print in their lives, and make sure that you have these stress factors way you. One of them is read through by a check before buying the CD. Other reasons why we need music reviews are:
1. We need the criticism you might find it surprising, but the criticism of something to you, just like everyone before we invest our time into it. Time is money, as they always say, and there is something to, makes the people must make sure that they will be getting not cheated. This is in today’s society, the most important thing to look for the people right now. Some criticism and then tell your friends what we always do.
(2) Which in advance know if we know the music in advance, then be music we listen to be more open. The reason is because you really can not to listen to the music, if you are stressed out and you are to want to turn it off and will not be able to have fun. That is why it is important to know what you are buying before you actually buy. In this way you will not upset about money are wasting. This is the main thing in all this.
3. Need to make sure – look at you music as a safety blanket. If you have something that has been tested, you can know for sure, whether it is good or not. You need to understand that everyone has their own opinions and you are going to have to judge for yourself, but you will be able get the basis of what to believe and what not to believe are. Music has a lot of different reactions to people. Some people feel that it slightly, which are required, while others at all have the song and not an opinion. Assess what is good will preview the song.
4. All information – you will be able, have all the information, if you a review on the album, you go, that think be. This will improve your choice of music, and you will be able find out about whether the CD is going for you be suitable. They want to give a CD to your niece or nephew not in a position, and think, that KORN is a good choice and realize that it was the explicit version, which instead got even though it was not to be written.
(5) Have a choice – if you have so many artists to choose from, it can be nerve racking. Be sure that you are always in the right genre. If you read a review, you will able, a choice the right choice to meet will have. Without them, you have the choice, but it is too broad. You limit what you prefer, make sure that you have the right information first.
Today you want with music reviews problems at all and even in a position, it will be also preview. If you have the right content, that allow you, can be relaxed, then will you to be happy that you bought the album. Music is fun to hear. There are many ways that people listen to music today, and you can rest assured that you intend to know an interesting time with the album have. You need to have your purchases safely to feel and look for this purpose all options at first, before he had a decision. Make sure that you are going to know what is in the first place on the CD. This way, you have nothing to fear.
Everyone has their own opinions, and make sure that you to find all the information you receive, so you are able, too, that you want to be want him. If you do this, your family will be there to appreciate. No one likes to waste money. Not make it a first for you and make sure that you have everything to you have the CD have real money on it. We all like a music review, that want, that we buy the CD, so we go. Never count this as true fact because, as I said many times before, everyone has their own taste in music. The CD, you can not like, even though the review tells you that it is good. Everyone loves to listen to music, but no one likes wasting their time. Go to different places your album preview you would like. That way, not to waste you everything and you have a good song in your head to whole day hum can. That’s what we all do anyway.
